White Silver SeaScape (Hove)

The sea today was white silver
an ice-like canvas,
black shadows painted into the curve of each white crested undulation
the sky’s ball of fire
(peeking through a veil of grey)
daubed rosy pink on the water’s surface
while the grey veil dumped a pail of pale pistachio
and spilled a can of Coleman’s mustard powder all over itself
and the rolling canvas below.
